Épisode quarante-et-sept: deux femmes d'été

The summer courses were fine in a class, tortured and stressed in the other. So, this episode should be dedicated to two women of summer. Both of them are friends of Aryan and Kin who I spent time with. They are my juniors. I knew them some time before I headed to Nordics. I met A first. She and Kin listened to me about the summer courses, which include mismanagement, in early May. I met B when I talked to A when we met at the library later. She asked me a few questions. Well, I didn’t know then that I answered interestingly also. Let’s name them A and B. A is nice, however, she is in the shooting club. B is indeed so colourfully interesting. A didn’t do make up much. B could spend hours doing it.A is sweetly cute. B is sparkly cute. A is normally tall. B is a little shortie. A is less funny. B is more funny. A is better at slow conversation. B is much better with rapid fire one on one chat. With these differences, they are friends. They all have a boyfriend. That summer anyway wasn’t the easiest for A though. She registered for an Economic Development class in which she had to work on presentations. She had sleepless nights. B registered the Economics of War and Peace so she was still living a normal life in the summer. What makes these two different from any friends is not just that I and A are Chonburians and B lived in Chonburi for some years, we just talk for the sake of chatting. I didn’t feel that much in the EBA, well apart from a few friends I spent time with. They overtake so many. People said that politics shouldn’t be talked about. I still feel people in this generation are quite more united than the olds. That summer though we met at lunch or at the library. It was a fine summer thinking about it.

Épisode quarante-et-huit: 7 juillet

It took me days until I decided to buy a ticket to the talk show by the legendary John Cleese, the great comedian. It was 3,500 Baht, but think about it. He’s too old to come to Bangkok for the next time. I missed one Paul Anka concert a few months ago due to final exams. I shouldn’t do shit things twice. I bought it. However, this seemed to be the only time Thaiticketmajor messed it. The ticket data at the ticket office and internet was different. I almost gave up buying it, and left the office. With some pity, I re-checked and that seat was 3,500 not 4,500. I ran back to the office. She then apologised and sold me a ticket. So, I was ready. The show started at 8 pm. It was 5 pm then, I left the faculty by a Pop bus. I planned to leave at the dorm for dinner as I should. However, I saw people playing cricket at the Two kings’ ground. I departed. I ran. I asked them if I could join. I was sent to cover. It was fine that I could stop some shots. Well, I should. They used a tennis ball as a cricket ball, which is normal. I didn’t have to protect myself then. Then, I was asked to bat. I got caught the first ball. I was pissed. Nevermind, then I bowled. My arms weren't that ready either. I got some wickets from flying balls anyway. I had a chance to bat again. I stayed for more than ten balls I reckon before I finished as a keeper. What a way to exercise. It was light rain as well so it’s not that hot. That June had too much El Niño which for Thailand, there’s less rain. Sunshine was grim. These people are researchers from India. They just asked where I was from. I’m Thai anyway. Well, people were surprised but women’s cricket here is better these days. The session ended around 6 pm. I then had dinner and walked to the theatre. I remembered there were free spaces to charge my phones before. It all closed so I just sat near the theatre waiting for the time. I played the video of him accepting the award for A Fish Called Wanda again, which is hilarious. He thanked everyone. I walked to my long-leg seat I bought around 20 minutes before the show. The show started with a video of his performances. Monty Python and Fawlty Towers dominated. He then came to the stage. He was 83. He looked old of course. People gave him a standing ovation before he discussed many topics with prepared clips throughout the first hour. After the interval, he then answered questions from the audience. He was assisted by one of his own staff. In summary, it was a celebration of his life. It was not boring at all, I remembered focusing on what he said, although I couldn’t remember too much now. Moreover, I didn’t feel like revealing what he said anyway as the similar show was showing in Australia and Europe at the time of revealing. It ended with another standing ovation. The show finished around 10 pm. It was a big July 7 indeed. I attended one more event a week later which was the first ever Asian Athletics Championships in Bangkok. It was held in the recently-renovated National Stadium. This event was less prestigious than The Asian Games. Moreover, the World Championships was a month away so not many good athletes showed up. However, I believe Bangkok won’t see these events regularly so I went there for three straight days. The days were quite similar. In the early hours of the evening, people sat at a long jump pit sand on the east side. Long jump and Triple jump were there. At the south side, Discus, Hammer and Javelin were there and High jump. At the north side, it’s for high jump and pole vault. After the end of these events, people moved to watch running. The Japanese are so united I can tell you. It’s great to see people from every Asian region gathering. There were rains too, fortunately, there was no lightning, but these athletes didn’t participate in the best possible conditions for sure. However, the committee deserves praise from this organisation I tell you. Combined with the journalism market fair at MBK. I met three journalists in three days, such as P’Name from FM 99. He is a specialist in Thai football. We had a talk about current sports issues. He is highly critical in his shows, it’s not that comedy side I must say. I like it anyway. I met P’Khan Phungkun too. It was so pleasing. Sadly, it was too short. His speaking style was relaxed. I like it. He has higher ranks now in Daily News, the newspaper. With P’Bee Lamsing, it’s great also listening to him speaking about football live. He is a great storyteller, so that’s why his radio shows are a must listen for me. It was a good time before the final exam.

La dernière partie

I read the final words of the last episode and feel that the ending looks bad. Let’s end it with ten top tens instead. I know people may want to read my top ten most beautiful EBA students in my opinion but sorry, no.
